xxtk. Bunk Beds. September 25th , 2017.
Is the bed safe? Does it comply with all the safety standards? Where was it manufactured and do you trust the quality control of that country? Read up on the safety standards before shopping so you know. Are there obvious safety issues like sharp, protruding edges, unfinished wood, or splinters? Any violations in this area could lead to serious injuries. Beds coming from a reputable furniture manufacturer should be compliant with safety standards.
Yet another kind of bed is frequently termed as a loft bed. Here there is only one top bunk and directly below you have a space that you can use for various functions. Most commonly this extra space down below can be used for a study space having a work desk and a chair - great for homework! Another idea for use will be to make storage space or just enough room to get an easy chair as a place to relax -- ideal for a young adult within a cramped room. In this case the bedroom would be only for one individual and by fitting a loft bed it is possible to make a more valuable room space. Space is often the primary reason for fitting any type of bunks in a bedroom.
Another word about safety, as you finish up your bunk bed: the distance in-between your bed frame and your mattress must not gap by more than three inches, or your children will be in danger of strangulation. PLEASE make sure you measure this accurately, and that your bed and mattress fit snugly.
Some of these provisions would be an extra long twin size bed, possibly a full size bed as part of the bunk, and one that accommodates heavier weights. Beds designed for young children only have a weight limit of around 150 lbs. - 200 lbs. and that includes the mattress. They also don`t have the same distance between the bottom bunk and the top bunk making them cramped for taller people to use. Sometimes the higher priced beds have additional features such as built in drawer or storage space. Even trundle beds are available which make them even more useful.. There are plenty of simple, well made bunk beds to choose from without all the frills at terrific prices. Buying the lower priced bed now might mean you need to buy another bed in the not too near future.
Anyway, before you begin building your bunk bed, with your new plans that you have, build it in the actual room that the bunk beds will go in. Believe it or not, many people start projects without accurately measuring the room into which their project will go. You will need more things than I can tell you in this short article. The plans will tell you the right drill bits, nuts and bolts to use. It will also be your choice so far as which wood to use, but oak is always a good choice. Go with your preference, and what you`re used to working with.
